Why can't I connect my iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2019) to my MacBooK pRO (13 inch 2020, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports) so that I can use the bigger screen of the imac but the better processing power of the Pro?

Your iMac isn't supported as Target Display Mode.
