Have a iMac with Thunderbolt 3 and macbook pro with Thunderbolt 2.

Want to use iMAC as display for my macbook pro 2015. Which adapter I need to buy.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities.

Any iMac with Thunderbolt 3 is at least 2017 if not newer, and therefore is not compatible with Target Display Mode.

Thanks Jack, Any other options to use it as an external display.Otherwise Should I go for buying a monitor with an adapter.Is that appropriate option.
