how do I buy more GB to upgrade my MacBook Air to the MacOS Monterey upgrade? It says I need an additional 11.04 GB tp install.

You cannot buy more storage for your MacBook Air. You can only buy iCloud Storage, and that is for syncing and offloading some data.
