This is Activation Lock.

Activation Lock is intended as a theft deterrent, and is intentionally not easy to bypass.

Activation Lock can be removed with the Apple ID and password, or with the original purchase receipt showing the serial number, or similar legal paperwork.

We can’t help.

Without the appropriate paperwork, Apple won’t help.

Either the previous owner releases the lock, or this device is indistinguishable from a lost or stolen device.

If acquired used and if the seller has disappeared, this probably is a lost or stolen device.

It won’t be useful to you, and your only option is to recycle it, if the seller can’t or won’t release the lock, and you don’t have the original purchase receipt.

For the majority of folks posting Activation Lock requests here, what you have here is either a lost or stolen device, or a device that is indistinguishable from a lost or stolen device. Nobody is going to help you with that, no matter how good the “deal” you got, and no matter what story you might have to tell here.

Activation Lock is intended as a theft deterrent, and is intentionally not easy to bypass.

Activation Lock can be removed with the Apple ID and password, or with the original purchase receipt showing the serial number, or similar legal paperwork, and a discussion directly with Apple.

If this device was acquired used and if the seller has disappeared, then this very likely is a lost or stolen device that you now have.

This device won’t ever be useful to you, and best to recycle it, if the seller can’t or won’t release the lock, and if you don’t have the original purchase receipt and if you can’t access the associated Apple ID.
