? delete photos from Imports without deleting them from an Album

I have imported via Time Machine recovery, a bunch of photos.

They all came in to the Imports on the top main menu.

I put the pics in a number of different newly created Albums.

When I delete photos form the Imports area, they also are deleted from the created new Albums.

I have deleted photos from the Imports area in the past where they did not get deleted from Albums.

? How do I do this ?
