My number

Iv got a new iPhone 13 pro max and iv kept my old phone number, iv switched my number over from my old provider to my new one however when I text people it’s not coming through as my number it’s the one that was given by my provider, iv been to the settings where it shows my number and iv tried to change it and save it but it just keeps going back to the number that’s stored! Help
