Face ID for logons

I had to reset my phone to get back visual voicemail which stopped working a few days ago. Tried many suggestions to fix this, but nothing worked. Had to resort to the dreaded reset and now I have to spend ridiculous time and effort to get my phone back the way it was. This is a major idiocy of Apple that needs to be addressed. Anyway, now I have to add back passwords and am not being given option for Face ID to be used in web connections or Apps. App names to turn on are not even listed in Setting page with the ones that somehow did preserve the Face Recognition for log on.

How do I get other Apps to work with this critical time saver?

iMac, macOS 10.13

This needs to be enabled for every App separately. There are many Apps that do not have provision login using Face ID.
