Photos is creating or opening a library

The Photos app on my Mac Mini is just stuck, spinning around. When I try and close it, it says "Photos is creating or opening a library'. I'm hesitant to do a Force Quit, for fear of losing all my photos.

Suggestions?

Photos on Mac freezes when control-clicking a photo . . . Today I tried control-clicking on a photo to choose a menu item. The spinning rainbow ball appeared, so I force it to quit and tried again. The same thing happened. Then I tried restarting the Mac. No luck. Next, I tried force-quitting Photos, launched it while holding down option-command, and tried rebuilding the library. After it finished rebuilding, I tried control-clicking a photo to choose a menu item, and it still happened! Next, I tried creating a new user account to see if that worked. It did, but that means I would have to recreate settings for each of my apps. Is there a way I can fix the original photo library? I ran out of ideas. Thank you!

Missing pictures in Photos Hi: Major disaster here. My Mac started crashing all the time so I restored it from backup. Restoration went fine except some pictures won't load after completing the restore. All of the recent pictures are just fine, only some of the more recent ones show up, and with rare exceptions, none of the old ones appear. My Library looks like this: Any ideas what would cause this, and, more importantly, how to fix it? Many thanks!!! Mac Studio 2022 (M1) running OS 13.3.1 and Photos Version 8.0 (541.0.120)

Pictures not showing in Mac Photos Hello, after a crash, my Mac Photos 1.5 (on an old MacBook Pro late 2009 with Mac OS El Capitan) doesn't show a big amount of pictures anymore - apparently most of those used in the Photo book I was working on. I verified that the pictures are still within the Photo Library. My attempts: Repaired photo library several times Tried to open the application with a backup copy of the photo library Tried to open the application in Safe Mode Trashed the plist preferences None worked. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks, Saverio

What choice do you actually have except to force quit?

In the event that your database is damaged there is no reason to suppose your photos will be lost. Also, do you have a back up?
