Using Ethernet also has a high failure rate. Please follow the instructions in Setup Assistant and Migration Assistant and use that, it works 100% of the time. If you don't have a Time Machine backup of the source computer, create one!!!

Wi-Fi migration is not reliable and prone to fail.

Your best bet is to connect the MacBook Pro’s Time Machine backup to the new iMac and migrate from it. If you do not have a Time Machine backup, then make one or try migrating using a Mac to Mac Ethernet connection.
