I’m so fed up with not getting notifications on my phone. I have to literally choose between the watch or the phone. I’ve turned everything off on my watch now so I can try get my phone back to normal. People have been screaming for this since the watch was made. Anyone found a work around?
I am afraid that is the way Apple designed it to work. Notifications go to either your Apple Watch or iPhone, but not both. If your iPhone is unlocked, you'll get notifications on your iPhone instead of your Apple Watch. If your iPhone is locked or asleep, you'll get notifications on your Apple Watch, unless your Apple Watch is locked with your passcode. For more info, see:

As javaliga says, send feedback and explain your security concerns. And those of us in this user-to-user technical support forum do not have any "say" nor "control" over what Apple decides in this area.
Yes I know. I found that out early on. Don’t Apple realise that if we leave our phones unlocked just so we can get a notification that defies the whole purpose of security and having it locked
