How do I back up my paintings and photographs? Even though I have iCloud Backup set on my iPhone, it has not been backing up my photos and paintings.

And how do you know that? If you're going to icloud.com to view your back up you don't, you can only see what you synced to the cloud. Read here What does iCloud back up? - Apple Support
