IMovie Won't Download Though it says it will run on this MacBook Pro

Hi, I have a macbook retina pro 2012 or 2013 or whatever. I'm running Catalina os 10.15.7 which is apparently the latest OS I can put on here. My IMovie won't run on my current OS. When attempting to download IMovie 10.3.1 which it says can run on my Mac, I see a notice that I need to update to OS 11, which ISN'T POSSIBLE. How the F do I get a running version of IMovie? Sorry for the frustration, but this is ridiculous.

I believe that you need OS 11.5.1 or later to run iMovie 10.3.1.

If you have or ever have had a version of iMovie 10 on your Mac, even if you deleted it, you can use the following procedure to obtain the highest version of iMovie 10 that your Mac will run. Otherwise you won't be able to obtain iMovie 10, and iMovie 9 won't run on your present system.

To update/redownload iMovie 10, drag your iMovie 10 app from the Applications folder into the trash, but do not empty the

trash. (You can skip that step if you had iMovie 10 on your computer before, but deleted it.) Sign in to the app store and open your purchases folder by clicking on your name at the bottom of the app store side bar. You will see your purchases

displayed, including iMovie 10. Redownload/update iMovie from there. If not successful, drag your present iMovie app out of the trash (if you moved it there) and return it to the Applications folder.
