iPad locked to previous owner

Hello I got an open box iPad from Best Buy and the guy who returned it must not have deleted the iPad from either his iTunes or find my iPhone. Is there a way to get this fixed remotely ?

Return it.


You can review details at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201441 and start a support request but I'm not sure how that would work with an opened item.
