Apple pencil

I have just bought the 2021 iPad (not the pro) and was wondering what Apple Pencil I should get or what one is compatible with the iPad.

You need to purchase and use the 1st gen Pencil with the silver, chorme, metal-ised top band/cap with the Apple Lightning connector protective, magnetic cap.

Apologies - I misread your post. For the iPad9, you’ll need the first generation Pencil - as listed in the linked support page.

Only the second generation Apple Pencil is compatible with the 2021 iPad Pro.

but it’s not the pro so is it classed as the 9th gen therefore it can only be used with the gen 1 pencil??
