who updates the control center for MacBook Air 2015

Updated my 2015 MacBook Air to Monterey, and message says the control center needs to be updated.

Is that even possible? Do I need to go back to a previous IOS?

Customize Control Center

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Dock & Menu Bar.
  2. Click a section in the sidebar to see items that are always in Control Center, or that you can add.
    • Control Center: The items in this section are always shown in Control Center; you can’t remove them. Select an item in the sidebar to see a preview of it in Control Center on the right.
    • Other Modules: You can add the items in this section to Control Center. Select an item in the sidebar, then select the item’s Show in Control Center checkbox.
  1. To include an item in the menu bar for even faster access, select its Show in Menu Bar checkbox.

You can’t add items in the Menu Bar Only section to Control Center.

" Control Center needs to be updated " This feature is Built into Monterey unless you have some Third Party Application by the same name.

Just what do you mean by "Control Center" on a Mac computer?

Mac computer use macOS while iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch use iOS.

iOS devices have a Control Center.

What were you doing on the Mac when you got the message that "says the control center needs to be updated."

Now my control center is grayed out and the message attached up saying it needs to be updated. How can that be done/fixed?

Something didn't get updated. The only way to update the Control Center would be to reinstall macOS from Recovery. You should not need to erase anything, just select Reinstall macOS in Recovery.
