iPhone 13 photos won't open on my Mac

Hello - ever since I got my iPhone 13, any photos that I have taken, will not open on my Mac. I can see the thumbnail images, but when I try to open them I get a triangle with an exclamation point.

iMac 21.5″, OS X 10.11

Never mind . . . I found out why - because I was taking High Efficiency photos, and my computer does not support them. Fixed it.
