Removing passcode from old device

I just packed up my old iphone 8 all ready to mail for trade in.

its off the cloud, find my phone deactivated , data transferred & wiped, and set back to the Welcome intro.

I did not (as a separate operation) remove the passcode, but suspect its gone as a result of the reset. Am I right to assume that?
