airpods will not connect when trying to pair them

i try to connect my airpod pros to my phones bluetooth by opening the case with both airpods inside, hold the button down until its white, and flashing and the airpod name never comes up to pair with my phone.

my airpod pros have worked 2-3 times since I have purchased them. i have turned my phone on and off several times and I have recharged the airpods to 100% each time i’ve tried.

any suggestions for this issue is appreciated
