minimize space from mail

Hello,

I am dealing with an impossible situation: A macbook air with little storage and an email account with super huge storage (over 70GB). Now, lets take something out of the way: It is a very bad practice to have such a large mailbox. This is not about me but about a friend and they are not willing to minimize the space.

When using MS Outlook on Windows, you have the option to minimize the emails downloaded to your computer, such as in the screenshot here:

Is there something similar on Apple Mail on MacOS? I couldn't find it.

Thank you

If I remember correctly, A PST was basically account details, locations, paths and all that Microsoft typical overkill. Mac Mail has no suck facility per se. What do you want to do in Mac mail in a PST sort of way?

Dragging and dropping is time consuming and tedious, but it's sort of the price you pay for an out of control mailbox.

So your friend has a small disk but refuses to free up space by deleting old messages? Is that right? He or she can drag them to an external drive and then delete them off the internal drive. I did exactly that some time ago. Attach the drive, double click an email message and mail will open. Best of both world's sort of thing.

What exactly IS your friend willing to do? Mac Mail is essentially a portal that access several email clients. As such I don't think it has the capability to do what you speak of. I used Outlook for years and I know exactly what you're talking about.

Hey,

thanks for your response! You know how users are... I see my screenshot (despite showing on the editor) didn't show here.

I am happy you know what i mean. My friend was asking me if it is possible even to move the emails somewhere else. I think an external disk is inconvenient but heck, i am willing to push him for it. Thing is, dragging and dropping emails will look hard to actually find something in these mails. Do you remember in the past on windows outlook you had the option to create PST files? Is there something similar in this situation?

Thanks.
