Import Evernote .enex files into Apple Notes with tags

I'd like to import Evernote .enex notes to Apple Notes on Mac. Evernote gives me the option to export tags with each note, but I don't see the tags show up when I import into Apple Notes. How do I import my .enex files into Notes with tags intact? Thanks!

From the Notes User Guide for Mac:

You can import files in TXT, RTF, RTFD, HTML, or Evernote XML Export (ENEX) format.

You might retain Evernote tags by exporting to the Evernote XML format instead of ENEX.
