loss of text message notification sound

iPhone 7, iOS 15.1. About once a day the sound notification of incoming texts stops working, only vibration. If I reboot all is well for about another day and then the sound notification will suddenly quit again. How can I stop this behavior ?

If you set and schedule Focus on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch then that will affect Notifications.

  1. Go to Settings > Focus.
  2. Tap a provided Focus option — like Do Not Disturb, Personal, or Sleep — then turn on the Focus.
  3. After you choose a Focus, select options like Allowed Notifications, Time Sensitive Notifications, and Focus Status.
