I have a HUGE music library in iTunes, including many songs I translated from records. Now that Apple is forcing us to use Apple Music subscription service, how do I work with this without spending a GAZILLION DOLLARS on iCloud Storage??

Apple music subscription is not compulsory. You would use the new music app to manage your music as you did with iTunes.
What happened to iTunes? – Apple Support (UK)
Also Apple Music does not use iCloud storage. The iCloud music library is used.
