Twelve South StayGo USB-C hub- Thunderbolt with MacBook Air?

Hello, I just purchased a new M1 MacBook Air. I also purchased a StayGo USB-C hub from Twelve South. I'm new to USB-C, Thunderbolt and DisplayPort so I'm curious to know if anyone uses one of these hubs or if you know that one of the USB-C ports can be used for the connection to an external Thunderbolt display (or use DisplayPort). I've searched the tech specs on the Twelve South product page, but couldn't find an answer. Here is a link to the hub: https://www.twelvesouth.com/products/staygo-usb-c-hub

If you are using a Thunderbolt display, you need a Thunderbolt connection. USB-C docks cannot provide such an interface. You can use the dock for the other things but you would need a this adapter:

Thanks for the quick reply. This helps me better understand it. This particular USB hub also has an HDMI port for connecting a display, but the tech specs say it is at 30 Hz and not the more common 60 Hz. I'm trying to decipher all of this too, which is why I questioned Thunderbolt compatibility with this hub. I'll have to look around and see what kind of display will best work for me. Thanks again.
