erase failed with disk utility on external drive

I just bought a Seagate external drive 1 tb. When I try to use Disk Utility to erase the drive, because it was formatted with a different format than Apple uses, the operation to erase failed, giving this error, "POSIX reports: The operation couldn't be completed. Invalid argument.: (22)"

What needs to be done for me to be able to erase this drive?

Mac mini, macOS 10.15

>> Disk Utilities >> View >> View ALL attached Drives.

4 - Choose the Upper Most Drive ( not the volumes indented and list below ).

5 - The drive name Seagate - that is the drive to Erase and format as HFS Journaled with GUID Partition Map OR APFS / GUID
