Apple Mail - Can Not Find One Single Unread Mail

Hi,

Apple Mail - Catalina - can not find one unread mail. I have several smart folders on left sidebar. and some show 1 unread mail. When I choose filter unread (top right) on any of these folders they are empty.

I want to find this single unread mail and make it read but can not find it. How can I clear out this single email unread count?

Why is junk mail included with Mail Inboxes after Big Sur? On my laptop which is still on Catalina, the combined 'Inboxes' section of Apple Mail only shows inboxes of the various accounts I have enabled. The unread badge also only counts unread mail from inboxes. The other mailboxes like Junk, Trash, Notes etc can be accessed by scrolling down and unfolding the corresponding mail account section. On my iMac which is on Big Sur, the 'Inboxes' section of Apple Mail now includes all the other mailboxes and the unread messages in any mailbox including Junk/Spam/Trash are counted in the unread badge for that inbox. This negates any benefit of having a combined Inbox section and makes me believe I have a bunch of unread mail, when's its just Junk. Is there any way to have mail all nice and neat and tidy and sensible like it was in Catalina?

Mail show3 unread messages but there aren't any. For a while, I've had "one unread message" in my Unread mailbox (Catalina on iMac), Two days ago, there were two. Today there are three. I click the Unread folder and nothing shows up. These three "unread" emails are listed ONLY in the Unread folder, none of the other mail folders show anything unread. I've deleted the Unread Smart Mailbox and recreated it with the only option selected as "Unread" (obviously) and the three "unread" messages have shown up again. I've selected "Mark all messages as read" and still they remain. Where are these ghost messages that it keeps finding? Why is it showing these when no other folder in the Apple Mail program shows anything as unread? This is obviously not a life-and-death issue but it is a little bothersome.

Apple Mail Hi, Regret I cannot find a suitable topic that covers Apple Mail so have just selected Catalina. I have just used import mailbox in Mail - excellent suggestion through Support Community - to pull in all my mbox folders containing emails created on a Windows PC. I am now showing around 2500 unread emails. There is a facility in Mail Mailbox which reads 'Mark all messages as Read'. Trouble is it is grayed out. It does not matter whether I start at the folder level or drill down to an individual email, it still remains grayed out. Is there a way I can mark all as read so that I can remove the 'new incoming emails' number from the Mail icon in the Dock ? Thanks

Are you sure its in a smart folder? It could be showing up on "My Mac" or somewhere thats in iCloud that hasn't been transferred to a smart folder yet ie. Inbox, junk, trash, etc.. Drop down unread mail for each of these folders that is not a smart mailbox. Hope it helps not just a redundant answer.

Thanks for the help. I kept looking around and finally found it - clicked on it - now it's not unread - problem solved
