Can a 4K Tv support an Apple TV HD?

I’m buying a new TV, and I currently have the Apple TV HD. Will a 4K TV support a non 4K model Apple TV?

sure, it will not display in 4k resolution of cause but it will be full screen

much in the same way if you connect and older gaming console

A 4K TV supports Apple TV HD just fine, but limited to 1080p obviously.
