I have a green light showing in the top right hand corner of my iphone and I don't know what it means

if it is behind the time display it means there is a background app running such as Maps, personal hotspot being used by another device, etc. tapping on it will open that app.

if it is anywhere else it is most likely in your wallpaper photo.

It means that your camera is on.
