M1 MacBook Air crashes randomly

Hey guys,

my Mac book crashes sometimes and it shows a black screen with pink strips. Then it automatically restarts and everything seems to be normal again.

Heres the error code:

panic(cpu 0 caller 0xfffffe00269e9798): "dart-disp0 (0xfffffe2332f40000): SMMU(SMMU) error: SID 0 PTE invalid exception on read with DVA 0x1980000 (TTBR 0 SEG 0 PTE 0x660) ERROR_STATUS 0x80000004 TIME 0xde0d026b73ef TTE 0 AXI_ID 0)"

I would be glad if anyone could help.

greetings

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.6

Hello markus_m_m,

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities. Keeping your Mac operating smoothly is definitely important. You're in the right place for help. It looks like your Mac restarts unexpectedly and you see a black screen with pink lines, correct?

How often does this happen? Have you noticed if it happens while you're using a particular app or function, or when you have a specific peripheral connected?

Also, which exact macOS version are you running under Apple menu () > About This Mac?

Depending on how reliably you're able to replicate the error, it might help to try starting up in safe mode to see if it occurs then as well. Here's How to use safe mode on your Mac. Test in safe mode, and then click Apple menu () > Restart to get back to normal. Let us know the results.

Cheers.
