Do you need MagSafe case for MagSafe charging

No. You have an iPhone 12 and it can be charged by using the MagSafe charger directly without any case at all OR you can have a thin case that will allow MagSafe charging OR you can have a MagSafe compatible case.

If you must use a non-MagSafe case then ensure that it can be used during wireless charging. If the answer is yes then you can use the MagSafe charger with it however the MagSafe charger is not going to stick strongly to the magnets of the iPhone. The case will be in between the two and the magnets will lose strength.

If you must use a MagSafe Compatible case then you will have no issues adhering the MagSafe Charger to the back of your iPhone.
