I have been using mail successfully. Today it is asking for a password to work. No mail is coming in. I enter the Password I know to be correct but mail says it cannot verify that password. I checked in keychain and safari both showing the password I entered.
What to do?
iMac 27″, macOS 11.6
Suggest log into the Webmail interface of the Mail Server and test if the know password works.
If not - contact them for changes they may have executed and may not have alerted you the Client
If password work - still check with them as they may have started using Application Specific Password .requirements much like Apple has done for Non Apple Native e-mail clients accessing iCloud Mail

Is one using Apple Mail Application?
Is the e-mail account with iCloud or from a Third Party mail servers ?
If Mail on your Mac keeps asking for your password
I am using 3rd party server - Spectrum. Yes Apple Mail. Have been using a long time but now won't accept password.
