Keyboard cover effect on the screen

Is it okay to leave a keyboard cover on my Mac Pro keyboard at all times or is this not good for the screen? I've had two pressure cracks lately and I'm worried the keyboard cover is not a good idea.

Keyboard cover damage Is it possible to remove marks in anyway from the display from a keyboard cover? I was not aware of this when using one I definitely see marks on my screen that aren't coming off with a cleaner and microfiber cloth.
