is it wireless? Did you pair it?
Try a USB wired mouse to be able to sign in and get to the Preference pane where you can make sure the wireless one is paired (again).

Turns out I was impatient and the new mini was just slow in responding. There was no indication that it was working on putting together its new mind. Everything works fine now. Thank you!
how did you hook up your monitor? what brand/model is it?

So, is it not letting you log in, after your enter the password and log in?
I can’t hook up a mouse, no desktop, key board works with verbal intro but that’s it.
LG monitor. Seems to work fine.
LG 24ML44B seems to work fine. Mini won’t recognize mouse
