I am making an iMovie on my iMac Pro and cannot record sound (narration)! I am using the built in microphone as I have many times before! The clip shows that I am recording, but there is no sound on playback! The builtin microphne works in Final Cut Pro!

Voiceover not recording in iMovie Hi guys. I am trying to record voiceover in iMovie. When I press the red button to record, it start recording "the silence". Why is my Snowball Mic not being detected in sound system preferences on my Mac? I have used this mic before on my mac to do voiceovers on imovie, last time I used it was probably a month ago, and now that I want to record again it won't detect it on imovie, I checked all of my preferences and everything is as it should be to allow mic usage but the mic does not appear on output sound preferences. Any idea why? please help!

iMovie audio recording doesn't work iMovie works on Big Sur and the new MacBook Air M1 like a charm - except of one thing: audio recording. Audio can be imported without any issues, but it seems that Audio in doesn't work at all - not with a USB microphone neither with the built in mic. The equalizer doesn't show any audio - and if recording, there is nothing to be heard. In the system preferences you can see though that the audio input does work (equalizer in audio settings does work). Is there anything I missed?

Activate the microphone by going to System Preferences/Security & Privacy/Privacy and click on the Microphone item in the left sidebar. Then put a check next to iMovie in the right hand pane.
