trying to get out of a reboot

black screen with white apple logo. continually rebooting. have tried hard reset. Not working. trying everything before going to the restore step

Try the steps in this article:

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't turn on or is frozen - Apple Support

Specifically, you can try the update first, if that does not work you need to try the restore.

If that does not help your phone might need service:

Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support
