Equation in Pages using LaTeX

Using LaTeX in equations in Pages works generally fine. However, sometimes a peculiar element is needed, like a strikethrough integral (\intbar), which is not available. Is it possible to overlap a minus sign by an integral object? Something like \rlap or \llap?

Thanks for help

You can only enlarge an equation once it is set in Pages, by selecting the equation object and increasing the text font size in the right panel.

I recommend you get the blahtex PDF guide from Apple's About LaTeX and MathML support in Pages, Numbers, Keynote, and iBooks Author. Blahtex is the translator support for the Equation editor and only supports the LaTeX operators revealed in that document.

The Pages Equation editor is a LaTeX/MathML translator that does not directly support your sought integral, and cannot load the AMSmath and other packages that have a convenience operator allowing this character entry.

You need to do the following:

  1. Open the Equation Editor, and enter \text{}, then position your cursor inside the brackets.
  2. Enter ctrl+cmd+spacebar to launch the character viewer. Enter the word integral in its search window.
  3. Locate the finite part (⨍) integral; the integral average with slash (⨏), or even the Integral with double stroke (⨎) character that you need and double-click it to insert it within the curly braces.

When you have done the above, the Equation editor will display the correct integral symbol.

Chapeau!! In the same way an upright pi is possible: \text{ π } in stead of \pi. This is sometimes required in publications.

Scaling, like \huge, seems not to work in MATH mode. Is an alternative available in order to enlarge the integral?

Thanks, Hans
