Why does your phone have to be on if you have the cellular watch for calls to come through to the watch ? Why does your phone need to be on for your Apple Watch with cellular to receive calls. I have Apple Watch Series 5 with cellular - I have Verizon and pay for the extra line.

NOTE: While you will be able to make/receive phone calls, send/receive iMessage, you will NOT be able to send/receive SMS/MMS TEXT messages. This means you will not be able to TEXT with your Android friends. Read the fine print at the bottom of the webpage FieryJack has given you.
