Dry it off as quickly as you can. Then back it up so you don't lose data. Don't plug it in to charge. Putting it in rice is an old wives tail and doesn't work with electronics.

Watch it for a day or so, but if you see any issues at all, understand that even 1 second in water can damage a phone and liquid damage is NOT covered under warranty, nor can liquid damage be repaired. This could require you to buy and Out of Warranty replacement phone and for iPhone 12 that cost would be $449 if you didn't buy AppleCare+ when you bought your phone or $99 if you did buy AppleCare+.
