if my old phone has a virus will the virus transfer to my new phone?

I purchased a new SE phone. Im afraid my old Apple 6 phone may have a virus. Will that virus transfer to my new phone when I complete that process?

Hi Oldnurse44,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today. As we understand, you are concerned your new iPhone SE will get a virus transferred from your old iPhone.

It's highly unlikely your iPhone 6 has a virus if you only update through Apple.

We'd suggest going ahead and transferring your data. If you do run into any issues, we can troubleshoot them.

Your old phone doesn’t have a virus, unless you jailbroke it. And even then it would be very unlikely.
