ipad doesn't recognize usb-c earphones

I tried to connect new Samsung AKG type-c earphones to my ipad Air (4th generation) but the ipad just doesn't see them. Went through different steps of restart, lower then raise volume,.. but none are working. The earphones are working fine when I plug them into my macbook. I updated the ipad yesterday to IOS15 but with no luck still. I found the below link to a similar issue that was never fixed:
