Can I use Seagate Backup Plus Portable drive with MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012)?
I am having trouble ejecting it before disconnecting. Also, I cannot see devices in the sidebar of Finder.

For the sidebar issue, open Preferences on the Finder menu, then click Sidebar at the top of the Preferences window and put a check mark in front of External Disks in the Locations section.
Thank you....Because I wasn't able to see the actual backup, could not safely eject it. But as stated above, I am now wondering if I have the best backup drive for my Mac.
"Best" is the subject of many opinions here and elsewhere but I don't personally feel there is all that much difference between brands.
