I just bought a new external microphone for my mac mini 2012. The microphone is new and it works perfectly on my window computer. But my mac mini (sound input) does not recognize any microphone.
Could you please advise?

Have you tried another microphone? If yes, the mic port is probably broken. Unfortunately, the 2012 mini is obsolete and cannot be repaired. So your best next option is to go for a USB sound card to hook your new microphone to. All the best!
What kind of Microphone?
Mac's need Line-Level Input plugged into the Audio Input Jack.

The other option, is to plug your Microphone into a USB Audio adapter.
