macOS Big Sur 11.6

When trying to update to macOS Big Sur 11.6, I am getting the following error

"Your disk does not have enough free space" Updating requires 6.13 GB of disk space.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.4

Software Update Disk Space Issue Hi, I am trying to update the software from macOS Monterey 12.5 to 12.6. The notification mentions that the "system update requires 18.76 GB of free disk space". I have close to 109 GB of free disk space available. Even though there is enough disk space available, I am notified with the same error. "Your disk does not have enough free space". Upgrade to MacOS Big Sur When I try to upgrade fo MacOS Big Sur, I get an error message that I need need more disk space. 16.7GB is a whole lot of disk space - which seems unreasonable for just an update. I just got this brand new MacBook Air in September and out of a 250GB hard drive, there is less than 10GB free. That seems weird too. I would love to hear some suggestions and insights. Thank you in advance!
