I want to change my Apple ID and when I try to it reads: "You can only add the @icloud.com address that is already on file in your account." so I enter my current Apple ID And it reads: "This email address is not available for use as a new Apple ID." please help.

I no longer have access to the email address that is my apple ID. When I try to change it to my current email address I get an error message stating that email address is not available. Try another. that is the only email address I have.
If you are trying to create a new, different Apple ID, you can't use an email address associated with the current Apple ID.
This email address is not available for use as a new Apple ID
