Messages to non-ios phones won't send from MacBook Air

I have a MacBook Air (M1, 2020) running Big Sur. Anytime i send a message to a non-ion phone they won't send. My previous MacBook Air was able to send these messages. Is there a setting to adjust or is this no longer an option?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.0

A Mac can only send messages to non-Apple devices by sending them through an iPhone. To enable that functionality, see How to forward SMS/MMS text messages from your iPhone to your iPad, iPod touch or Mac - Apple Support
