iMessages going green

I've been messaging my family who are all on iPhone and my messages have been blue up until today. I've checked why this might be and searches suggest that it's either because I'm messaging Android users (which in this case I'm not) or because I'm offline (which isn't the case either). Any ideas as to why this might be? Thanks

iPhone 12, iOS 14

it means either you or the recipient is in an area with a weak wifi or cellular data connection or have imessage turned off, when imessage is unavailable it will sent as a text.
