Apple TV remote on my IPad
I’ve been trying to do it by myself for days, but now I give up.

What is your model Apple TV? Identify your Apple TV model - Apple Support
The software remote in Control Center is not compatible with the 2010 Apple TV (2nd generation or earlier).
You may need a functional remote to help set it up, if the Apple TV box and mobile device are not yet on the same network.
You may need a functional remote to help set it up with Apple TV (3rd generation).
Some functionality requires the same iCloud account setting for both devices.
