I deleted safari; how do I get it back?

You can not delete Safari. It is installed as part of the Apple operating system and is "protected". What you did was to delete the icon for Safari. Look in your computer's Applications folder and you will find Safari. Drag its icon down to the Dock and that will create an alias for Safari there.
