Unable to use my new number for iMessage

I changed my number but kept my same sim, but it won’t let me use my new number for Imessage, keeps saying unsuccessful.

iMessage I swapped my number over to a new provider now when I text or iMessage I get te number with the sim but when I phone I get the number I kept iMessage is not letting me delete the new number and it’s not letting me put my number

iMessage Issue I changed the SIM card on my iPhone Xs Max but the iMessage number remained with the old SIM card number and not the new one. Under My Number in Settings - Phone, my new number appears but the old number remains in iMessage and is not able to activate iMessage. How can I change my iMessage number so that it activates iMessage with my new number? Greatly appreciate the help.

Try activating iMessage on cellular data and not WiFi.
