iMovie quits when importing any media

I am running iMovie 10.1.5 on a 2012 mac mini (mojave). When I try to import media (.mov, .mp4) or .jpg iMovie quits (as opposed to crashes). Tried deleting preferences, restarting, new library all to no avail.

Update iMovie to a more current version, like 10.1.12 or 10.1.14.

iMovie: any .mov, .mp4 files are grey and can't be imported anymore? Good morning, for some reason I can't import .mov or .mp4 files anymore to iMovie. They are grey and can't be selected. When I double click the files, I also get a QuickTime Player error message "This file ist not compatible with QuickTime Player". In external apps like VLC I can watch the movies without problems. --> This happens since the "Device Support Update" for BigSur on Sept. 30th, 2021 Could someone please check the issue? iMovie crashes when exporting I use MacBook Pro and MacOs BigSur 11.4 I have problem with iMovie. It crashes every time when I try to export movie to desktop. I tried below advices from previous post but nothing works: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250060464 I was able to use it previously, this problem started a couple days ago. I am not able export any project, which I have done previously. Also I opened a fresh user account with a new library and even deleted/downloaded iMovie to reset everything. Still does not work even for a small 20 seconds movie. I hope somebody finds a solution.
