I use iTunes File Sharing to transfer files from my Windows 10 PC to my iPad Air. Once files are successfully transferred, is there any way to clear the list in the Documents pane on the righthand side of iTunes? It has become inconveniently long.

Not without deleting the files that you've copied to the device. You may prefer to use the Files app and iCloud Drive, Dropbox or other cloud services where these are supported by your app.
